ScannerX Tool Guide

ScannerX is an institutional-style market intelligence platform designed to help investors identify high-quality stocks, monitor market conditions, track sector rotation, analyze fundamentals, and discover technical setups. The platform maintains a curated universe of liquid U.S. equities sourced from Yahoo Finance and updated on a synchronized schedule approximately one hour behind market time.

1. Data Collection & Refresh Process

ScannerX is built around a structured market database designed for mid-term and long-term investors. The goal is to provide reliable, consistent, and actionable market information rather than ultra-short-term trading signals.

Data Sources

All market, fundamental, and historical price data is collected from Yahoo Finance and processed into the ScannerX database.

  • Daily OHLCV (Open, High, Low, Close, Volume)
  • Market Capitalization
  • Float Shares
  • Shares Outstanding
  • Valuation Metrics (P/E, Forward P/E, P/S, P/B, PEG)
  • Profitability Metrics (ROE, ROA, Margins)
  • Quarterly Revenue and Earnings History
  • Industry and Sector Classifications
  • Major Index and Futures Data
  • Treasury Yield and Macro Market Data

Stock Requirements

To maintain a liquid and investable universe, ScannerX only includes stocks meeting minimum liquidity requirements.

  • Share Price above $5
  • Average Daily Dollar Volume above $1 million
  • Valid and actively traded exchange-listed securities

These filters remove most penny stocks, illiquid securities, and extremely thinly traded names that may produce unreliable technical signals.

Monthly Universe Refresh

The eligible stock universe is rebuilt and refreshed monthly. Newly qualified stocks are added while securities that no longer meet minimum requirements are removed.

  • Monthly universe rebuild
  • Ticker validation checks
  • Corporate action adjustments
  • Data quality verification

Daily Updates

ScannerX updates market data throughout the trading week and intentionally operates approximately one hour behind current market time.

Why a 1-Hour Delay?

The platform is designed for market analysis, screening, trend discovery, and investment research rather than high-frequency execution. Operating one hour behind market time provides more stable calculations, reduces temporary data inconsistencies, and allows all scanners to run on a synchronized dataset.

  • OHLCV data updates approximately one hour behind market time
  • Fundamental metrics are refreshed when new filings become available
  • Futures, sectors, industries, and market health calculations are rebuilt automatically
  • Scanner rankings and relative strength metrics are recalculated after each update cycle
